I want to connect my Sky Q box to my Sky router via Ethernet. I have recently had a Hikvision unmanaged POE switch installed in a central cupboard for CCTV and have two ports free. It would make life much easier if I could route the Ethernet from the Sky Q box into the POE switch rather than running a Ethernet cable down the wall directly into the router. There is already a Ethernet lead running from the POE switch into the Sky router so it seems an easy fix to run the Sky Q Ethernet into the POE switch via the attic without running new conduit into the room with the router. Will the Sky Q box operate as it should by being routed through the POE?

Yes @dick+t
The Ethernet connection to the router can be direct or through the switch. Both should work.

Re: Sky Q into Hikvision POE unmanaged switch.
Thank you for the prompt reply Oldfella.
I was just concerned being a dinosaur that these POE switches provide power so I was unsure if this would effect the Sky Q connection. From what you've said it doesn't seem to be a problem and I can route the Ethernet lead from the Q box into the cupboard and into the POE with an Ethernet out of the switch and into the router along with the connected cameras etc. this will make life much easier thanks.
sorry, I am a bit new to all of this technology.
