Sky Q internet connection drops out

Had SkyQ box replaced today worked fine then around 5 hours after same message appears on Home Screen , sorry no internet connection etc.  Turned off at mains and restarted and worked, but can't keep doing that or having to enter WiFi password. Sky engineer was great and did things on advanced settings etc, but am stumped as to why the connection has still dropped on a new box. My broadband is EE and works no issues with other streaming connection as checked that first before a replacement box was installed as to identify area of fault.  If I have to use a Ethernet cable it will cost me money to get a booster disc as the full fibre  needed to be installed via external wall and main router in front bedroom, but it is a very small house  so don't understand why the wireless connection is having issues, it's been working perfectly just up until a few weeks ago. Plus is there any guarantee that using a cable will solve issue? Any help appreciated.

Re: Sky Q internet connection drops out

I had similar problems to your recently after moving from BT to EE Broadband. Sky box joined new network and then continually kept dropping the wifi, either on the main sky box or mini boxes. Following all the self help advice, nothing worked and calling EE and Sky also did not lead to a solution.

I am not an expert, but this is what I found solved the problem and it appears to only be required for Sky boxes, the 20 other wifi devices in my house had no problem at all, thus I suspect this is a Sky box design constraint, so I am surprised that its now not clearly identified.

Option 1 - Connect an ethernet cable from your router to the main sky box, problem is immediately solved.

Option 2 - split the EE Router into 2 networks and 2.4Ghz network and the standard 5 Ghz network.

It appears the Sky boxes struggle to work on the faster newer wifi networks, other devices can join this network for speed.

Connect sky to the 2.4Mhz wifi network you have set up and it solves the problem
