Sky Q in Cupboard

Hi. I have a voice control Sky Q remote. I want to put my mini box behind the kitchen wall to connect to the wall mounted tv. Will the remote still work? I read that it is Bluetooth. So am I good to go?
Thanks in advance.

@Marcus+HallusYes all remotes are Bluetooth so it may work it much depends on what the wall is made of and if it blocks the signal.

Make sure the box has plenty at airflow to keep it cool.

As long as you can still get to it if you need to physically press the power button or unplug for any reason.

I've got mine mounted behind the TV.

Re: Sky Q in Cupboard

Hi. I didn't phrase my question very well. Behind the wall is a cupboard. So no issues for access or cooling. Cheers!

Re: Sky Q in Cupboard

Hi. I have had a cupboard built to put my tv on. I have a sky q box but not a new one. I want to keep the box in the cupboard below the tv, but it doesn't work unless the door is open. Can I get a magic eye thing? I'm not technically minded so please help!

Re: Sky Q in Cupboard

My project is done. Box is behind the wall and working perfectly. I have since found out that the newer boxes work with Bluetooth but the old ones are infra red. So no blockage between them. I have tried years ago to use a magic eye as you called it, but discovered that they don't work with Sky  equipment. Maybe someone else knows more than me though.

Hi @JuliaHorses   There is no such thing as an old Sky Q box, what do you mean? Forget about the magic eye (doesn't work with Sky Q in any case) and simply get a Sky Q voice control remote.

Re: Sky Q in Cupboard

Hi. I just meant that it doesn't seem to work by Bluetooth as it must be infrared as it stops if the door is closed and it's not a voice controlled one. Can you purchase a Bluetooth remote for the existing box then? Thanks

All SKY Q boxes can work in bluetooth mode - although some of the older remotes issued with SKY Q minis were infrared only

All voice control remotes can work in bluetooth mode (need it to use voice control)

my previous post crossed with yours - Yes - all voice control remotes can use bluetooth (& need to to be able to use voice control)

Hi @JuliaHorses   Just to be clear, Sky Q voice control remotes work with all Sky Q boxes. If you give Sky a call they will probably send you one free. You can also buy them from places like Amazon. The current and latest is the one with the blue voice button on the front. Note you have to pair them using IR first, then you can close your door.
