I am having this exact problem
changed q main box 4 times. Same repeated problem. Totally random. Box turns off amber light. Often loud fan but not always. Sometimes spinning blue light.
not on eco setting. Have updated software many times. Only way to get working is to cycle power.
well ventilated and box not hot either.

I have the same issue where sky box makes a loud noise and Sky tv does not work. The only way to resolve is to switch off box. I have had 5 boxes replaced and no solution yet @RichD2
I would be grateful if a solution can be found

Hi Lisa,
Is there a solution to this issue?
Thanks

Hi Mark,
How did you connect other boxes by Ethernet?
I was connecting all by Ethernet through the router?

Hi
I have unmanaged switch in the loft. The router/hub is next to the open reach point downstairs and a cat 6 runs up to the switch and then drops down via 15 cat 6 to every permanent internet item I.e each tv ps5 sky box etc

Hi Mark,
If you have a landline, was this connected to the back of the router? I initially thought it was due to the phone's connecting to the router was causing an issue with the sky box. How long has your sky been working when you removed Ethernet connection to your Sky q box?

No landline connected at all. I do not have one.
It's been 3 days so far
I got so feed up having to reset the box I put a smart plug on it. I could reset it by asking Alexa to do it 😂😂😂

Thanks. How do you connect sky q to mini if no Ethernet connection to sky q. Is this by wifi?

Hi
have left the mini boxes connected to Ethernet and everything is working. Not changed any settings on any box
I am assuming that any box can be WiFi or Ethernet as long as they are all connected to same network

Correct. The Q broadcasts its presence (belligerently) and that gets picked up across all physical layers as long as there's no vlan / router segmentation in the way.

Connection seems very unreliable with the mini boxes especially when you turn on in the morning. Is there a solution to get a better stable connection to the mini boxes?

Joining this chat as we're experiencing the exact same problem. A new box has been ordered, but relucatant to change if the problem persists even with a new box.
We have a wired connect straight to the moain Sky Q box. Worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago.
Our router has been changed.
