Recently came back to Sky having two years with BT TV. (previously with Sky for 10 years). Have Sky Q and am familiar with it as had it previously and no issues.. Currently I have an issue which I can't seem to resolve. The new Sky Q box won't start up when connected to my Philips sound bar.. .The Sky remote starts the TV and the soundbar, but won't then activate the Sky Q box. I have changed all HDMI cables.
If I leave it for a while (e,g 5 or 10 mins) it will suddenly start. It will then be o.k for the rest of the day.
I leave the Sky Q box on overnight (in standby). but switch off the sound bar and TV. The following day, same situation occurs. I should say the TV is fine when watching TV with Freeview via aerial or Netflix using WiFi.
I also have another problem with Sky Q in that it won't restart progams from the beginning even when the option appears on screen (same with mini box).
Can anyone help wth these problems?

As per Chodley's suggestion, I tried leaving power on to TV and soundbar overnight - worked perfectly when starting Sky Q box the next day! Tested it out further by isolating each one seperately, it's the soundbar that is definitely causing the issue, suspect it may be be related to the transformer(?) for the soundbar. Anyway, I'll leave them switched on in the future!
Thanks for your help!
Still have a bit of a problem being unable to restart programs from the beginning, but i will keep working on that one!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI'm confuswd about what you're doing with the power here. When you say you switch the TV and soundbar off, you mean at the wall? And why not turn the Q on first?

Sorry, I didn't realise that I had to make the initial response, yes I still have the problem!
To clarify: The Sky Q box is always powered up, left in standby overnight. The TV and soundbar are
powered off at the wall socket. - I don't like leaving too many things powered up overnight!
So the Sky Q box is on when I switch on the TV and soundbar the next day
To confirm, After starting the Q box if i leave it for 10 - 15 mins. it will suddenly start up!
Any help appreciated.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe Q box is in standby, rather than on, when you turn the TV power on. I wonder if that's causing the issue with some sort of initial hdmi comms.
I never turn my stuff off at the wall. The power drain in standby is tiny, less than 1W on modern TVs. Maybe test just putting the TV and amp into standby overnight and then turn the Q on first and see what happens.

Connect the SkyQ box directly to one of your tv's hdmi ports.

Unless your soundbar has a cec setting you need to turn on then the only solution is to connect the sky box directly to your hdmi port of your tv.
