Sky Q box very slow when attempting to view recordings or catch-up

Dec 2025. After many years on HD and Q, transmission on recordings and catch-up very slow.

coincidentally (?) has happened a few weeks after fibre optics for broadband done.

Flipping between main channels using - 101, 102, etc - is indeed speedy, but going to TV Guide and paging up/down is very very slow.

When, eventually, attempt to view recordings or stream, the transmission has to stop and then  starts to continue. Using rewind/forward wind is worthless as completely confuses transmission.

Disconnecting the box and restarting makes no difference.

The other day, a recording suddenly lost sound. I went onto a terrestrial channel which did give sound and then went back to the recording...all okay for a couple minutes, but then sound went again.

In the end...I ordered a replacement Sky Q box. So, hopefully, all should now be fine. Thanks to all for input.

@SH31 You could try resetting the settings in the Q boxes hidden menu.
To enter the hidden menu press the home button and scroll down to settings but do not select settings.
With settings highlighted press 0 0 1 then select
Only Carry out the first Reset being Reset Settings as the others will wipe all recordings.
After the reset you will have to re-pair your remote assuming you are using a bluetooth remote by pressing 1 and 3 together on the remote

Sorry, @Laing1, played a recording and after a minute sound was lost. Went to BBC1 where sound was playing. Went back to recording and sound started okay. Had to keep repeating this flipping between terrestrial and the recording.

@SH31

That will be via a 'doorstep box swap' whereby a courier company (usually DPD in the UK) deliver a new box and take your pre-disconnected faulty box away so remember to remove the viewing card from the old box before it disappears into the van. Also accept the power cable the courier brings in case it's a different fitting to the one you have.
