Sky Q box turns on but just blank black screen
My Sky Q box froze last night whilst watching live TV. I thought it may need resetting so I unplugged the Sky Q box, left it for about 30 seconds and then plugged it back in. Went through the process of the black "Hello" screen then goes blank like normal, then the blue screen that say when it disappears to press the "Home" button. I did this twice but the Home Screen just flashed up for less than a couple of seconds then a black blank screen. I thought knowing Sky Q boxes can get hot has it overheated. So tonight after no success last night I unplugged it and left it for about a minute checking it wasn't hot or appeared to be overheating. After a minute I plugged it back in and turned the Sky Q box back on. Got the green light as has always been the case but just a blank black screen, no Home Screen flashing on, just nothing. If I need a new Sky Q box why is it Sky never seem to be able to have a system where you can back up your recordings, not just the purchased recordings but the ones recorded from the live TV or series links that you haven't watched all the recordings of and some of these may become unavailable let alone trying to remember all the recordings you still was wanting to watch, now just gone!! Why can't Sky Q have a kind of cloud based account back up system for recordings on the actual Sky Q box or a way for an engineer to download your recordings from the now not working Sky Q box? Does what's happened to me mean my Sky Q box needs replacing?

Because recorded content doesn't belong to the subscriber: it's on the hard drive as a limited exemption to copyright intended to facilitate time-shifted viewing.
Items purchased from Sky Store can be downloaded again: everything else is transitory.

So why can the hard drive not have a way of being downloaded so that the data on the hard drive can then be transferred to a new Sky Q box? Most hard drives in computers allow them to be accessed and the data downloaded and transferred but why even if the data has a limited exemption to copyright to be able to transfer the data from one defective Sky Q box to a replacement Sky Q box by a Sky engineer should still comply with the limited exemption to copyright as the same data is not being used in any different form of capacity. It's almost like you need to write down a list of recordings just in case the Sky Q box breaks down and needs replacement. Considering today's technology that's like going back to days before computers in a sense.
