Hi chaps , have read all of this with interest . I recently reverted back to my sky router rather than a faster tplink one precisely because of the stability issues. The thing is...I got the main Q box running using the RE200 extender method ....but hard wired into the extender.
My main issue was the stability of the 3 q mini boxes I have....they all seemed to come and go as they pleased.
Anyone else got experience of this ....ie the main q box works fine in Gaz's TPlink extender connect..but sky mini boxes are flaky ?

I'm with Sky broadband and Q with 4 minis and booster, have loads of wifi mesh boosters and whether I connect direct to Sky wifi or mesh, they all drop out regularly, frustrating and never hear the end of it from the family, so annoying when you're paying good money. Interesting to see others are experiencing the same, seems to have been a significant problem for me for quite a while now.

Yeah this is kind of where I was at when I gave up on wifi on the Q and use this config. Very stable and fast for 2 years ever since.

I just plugged my sky box into the Wi-Fi router it has been fine now for over two months

It's ridiculous though isn't it that the q box cannot be used wirelessly with any other internet provider except sky!

@vickylou01 I'm with Sky for Internet too and it still doesn't work!...

You seem to be assuming that it works well with Sky

It can but connection drops and never reconnects on its own. I plugged my lead direct from sky box into router it's been fine ever since

I have read through all of the posts and thank you all for taking the time to share advice. I changed broadband to Sky at the beginning of December and it has been a complete nightmare. Have been through all the settings mentioned in other posts as directed by Sky, had two engineers attend with a third booked for 23rd Jan. Sometimes the issue looks like it is fixed, but then end up dropping the connection and then continues to do so.
I'm going to look into the fix that @Gaz1 has mentioned so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I just wanted to ask though, as nobody else has mentioned this, have any of you experienced your other devices disconnecting from wi-fi when you turn the Sky Q box on?? Everything works fine when the Q box is in standby mode but as soon as I turn it on, wi-fi connection is lost on our other devices. I don't think it started off like that, but our problem has got progressively worse, to the extent that the Sky Q drops connection constantly and other devices lose connection when it is on. I can't even get my mini box connected back up as the Sky Q won't stay connected long enough!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreNever had sky broadband but my phone (nothing else afaik) used to drop connection moving between wifi mesh nodes sometimes. Would reconnect fine without intervention. Hasn't happened since I stopped using wifi on Sky Q but I also moved the nodes around a bit at the same time so can't say for sure it was that.

Yes this happens to me. I cannot use mobile calling when my internet is connected to sky q or it just cuts out.

Oh goodness if it doesn't even work with sky there is no hope for us!

I think it can but it's twitchy.
I always recommend people avoid wifi if at all possible.

I was going to post on here to ask if anyone has issues with their sky q box dropping the internet and lo and behold we have this long long thread.
I have connected via wireless, great, then it drops out and won't reconnect, i've connected via a powerline adapter, great, then it drops out and won't reconnect. I can't connect directly to the box with an ethernet from the router due to positioning of both.
Thought i'd go for a mesh but that doesn't seem to be a solution reading here.
At the end of my tether with it. Just don't know what i'm supposed to do. Because the main box drops connection all the time the mini box doesn't work. So frustrating.
