Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
Our Sky Q box is dropping the wifi connection several times a day. It always re-connects first time when we go to settings and reset the connection, but it's becoming a nuisance as it's happening more and more frequently. We have superfast broadband with Zen and it's not dropping out on any of our other connected devices (Tablet, Alexa, Laptop, Desktop, Phones etc.). Doesn't matter what time of day we reset it, 30 minutes later we go to one of the apps or try to view something that requires the internet and it's needing to be reset again. The broadband never drops on any of our other devices (and we don't use all of them at the same time). My wife can be on her laptop all day and never have an issue, but as soon as she turns the TV on it's asking for a reset. Tried all the usual things - resetting the router, turning the Sky Q box off, unplugging it and leaving it for 15 minutes then restarting it but nothing seems to work. Am starting to think that something is wrong with the box or that Sky are trying to make life difficult so we go back to their broadband. Anyone having similar issues or can someone offer a solution please?

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
I had this issue. It's very frustrating. It turned out I wasn't using sky broadband. So I plugged in my old sky router into my current router and the sky box thinks it's connected to sky internet and it works a dream. Worth a try?

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
If you have a sky router sitting around maybe.
A Q booster can achieve the same effect
or use powerlines or ethernet
or plug your sky boxes into wifi mesh nodes.
as for "anyone having similar issues?" - yeah you could say that, and the other threads should have popped up as suggestions as you were writing the subject line of this one. 😀

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
Thanks for your reply. I'd would have tried that, but Sky made me send their router back (even provided pre-paid packaging) 🙁 so it's not an option.

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
Did it work OK until recently? I cannot get it to acknowledge internet connection since the software updated to Q300. Briefly on a minibox it allowed me into Netflix, but then reverted to "no internet".
Every other device on my network works fine. I'm connected through ethernet, so it's not WiFi. I've changed nothing on my network - the only change is the Q software.
I've an engineer coming on Tues.

Have you disabled wifi?

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
So it turned out to be the broadband after all.
Later last night I tried using my Fire TV stick. It also had connection issues. But when I tethered it to my phone it worked fine, pointing the problem at the network.
This morning I rebooted the router and everything came back.
Nothing obvious occurred with the broadband or router, unlike the Q box that upgraded.

Re: Sky Q box dropping wifi every few hours.
It was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. Since then it drops out several times a day and, although it always reconnects, it's only online for about an hour or so before it drops again. All our other devices remain connected when the Sky message comes up, so we know it's not our wifi. it's getting to the stage where we are considering ditching Sky and going to another provider.

All u other devices started connected apart from the Amazon ones. It's worth restarting the router like I did, just to eliminate it as a cause.

Let's try that again in English!
