Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
I have removed the ethernet cable and the Q box searched for about 3 seconds then connected to wi-fi, no trouble since (so far)

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
Hi Ruralpirate,
Glad to hear things are working well, hopefully on a permanent basis. My experience is if you are using Ethernet for PCs/ game boxes whatever, a powered splitter on a short lead from the Superhub iis essential.

Re: Sky Q whirring or making noises over night - EE Broadband
Daniel
this is still a recurring problem. As others have stated you have the data, when is this going to be fixed???? Been with Sky over 25 years and seriously thinking of leaving as this cannot go on!!!!

Remove the earthnet cable and it will automatically find your Wi-Fi that should solve the problem.

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
So I've got a splitter box beside the main router already and it's still crashing by regularly. Also if I unplug the Ethernet cable will that not sever the connection to my mini boxes?

My mini boxes work on wi-fi, once I unplugged the ethernet, my Q box searched and connected to the Wi-fi, now works perfectly

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
No it should not affect it, I had the same issue and unplugged the Ethernet cable and once the sky box picks up the WiFi as will your mini box. Mine has not crashed now for over 5 months.

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
Hi Helmac,
As mentioned the mini boxes work by Wi-Fi and the main box will too, talking direct to your Hub. What the main Q box does not like is I/O via Ethernet. It should work and be straightforward, but it doesn't and Sky will probably say "not our problem, it's your Hub". I also found the Q box would crash if Ethernet connected to it even via a splitter, but PCs are happy. You will need to enter the password for your hub into the Q box using your remote, a long winded business, but my system has been stable, and reconnected automatically when I recently depowered and restarted the hub.
Good Luck!

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
Hi Wadinga
thats really helpful and I tried that but my mini boxes wouldn't connect. It's an old house with thick stone walls! Is there any way to get the sky box to accept the EE Broadband via Ethernet at all?
thanks

Re: Sky Q box crashing & box fan spinning loudly - EE Broadband
Hi Rural Pirate
yes we have 4 WiFi repeaters. Getting the fourth from EE was a major struggle.
Speaking to EE tomorrow and will see if they have any wisdom .........
