Are there any figures available for the number of people still subscribed with Sky+HD compared to Q & Stream/Glass ?

As long as subscribers are paying and happy, I dont see why Sky cant allow them to continue to watch via an old system, plus let them use a refurbished Sky+ HD box if theirs fails.

The main reason is doubtless average revenue per user on Q is higher, advertising is more controllable/customisable, and the potential to upsell pay per view stuff via the home page is a revenue driver.

Nothing recent, but from memory Sky was claiming around 70% take-up of Q several years ago  (before the 2021 launch of Glass/Stream)

Of course even a few percent of twelve million is still a lot of households, and we do know there were still an appreciable number of Sky+ digibox (non-HD) users up to last year otherwise the channel switch-off advertising campaign wouldn't have been necessary.

@FastEddie1

That was stopped last year (end of October).

I know but my point is why, if people are happier using the old equipment and to pay the same as Sky Q ?

Sky are going to lose customers altogether if they force us to Sky Q and we hate it.

Quite simply SKY seem to be  trying their best to move everyone off SKY HD although they are stopping short of forcing customers to switch (probably whilst they gain income)

Edit : The fairly recent communications to SKY HD customers about lack of future Software upgrades would appear to point to  their intentions

I am guessing there is some cost to SKY in having to provide the limited support they do provide

They have withdrawn hardware support some time ago and stopping cards to be paired with other boxes is just another step.

I think SKY would actually prefer customers to switch to Glass or Stream which are their strategic products but realise Q may be  better suited for some (especially where broadband is not yet good enough)

Totally agree. Sky Q is proving a poor "upgrade" but do Sky listen? And we seem to have moved to Germany.

Yep I cancelled my sky contract a year ago exactly for this reason! Sky Q is just logic less and unusable. The user interface seems like it was designed by a 5 year old child 😂

YMMV - personally I have no issue with it.

@Markwhatever1

I've had Sky Q since November 2019 (previously Sky+, then Sky+HD) and apart from the occasional glitch whereby series links don't all stack together I have had no problems with Sky Q or the interface and definitely wouldn't revert back given the opportunity (which won't happen).

Re: Sky Q awful to use

How comes up is down and down is up when you operate the remote? So annoying you wanna chuck the remote across the room within the first 30 seconds of using it! Also all the sub menus are unnecessary and just over complicate the whole experience compared to the old sky HD+

Change is normal. Most people are able to accommodate it....

A Q box is capable of doing far more than Sky+ ever could: this does tend to imply a rather more complex UI is required.

You mean illogical? I agree on the submenus. Not sure what you mean about down being up and vice versa.

It's a trade off for longer menu's - frankly, you hardly need to go into them...

 Not sure what you mean about down being up and vice versa.

I believe OP is referring to the channel scan up/down arrows.  My recollection on Sky+ was the up arrow increased the channel number - on Q it decreases it.  (Because it's seen as a vertical list)

However, the dedicated channel buttons work in the expected manner.

I agree if it's an improvement but not when it's a downgrade! It seems some people have extremely low standards
