Re: Sky Q awful to use

what they do is keep stopping your sky plus working and that way you get so fed up you chane to sky q, but in comparison it is very vry complicated, catch up is next to useless and as for finding what you want on 'recordings' just forget it.

I totally agree. The worst thing is finding what you have recoreded. It used to be so easy. You could see all recordings in a list, you clicked on the recording and could instantly see which episode you were part way watching. Now you have to look at stupid photos of the programme - they all look the same - you cannot see which one is highlighted and finding the episode you want is almost impossible. I used to look at 10 to 15 minutes at a time, but it takes me longer than that now just to find it, and most of the time I can't. It is total  rubbish and I hate it. I so want sky plus back.

Sounds like you're averse to change....

@Polly+Parrot you may not realise how to read the new recording section in the pic below there is a series with 8 episodes it clearly shows the play symbol on the episode you are on so will play that one if you scroll right the play symbol will move to the next episode.

On episode one it has a blue progress bar at the bottom showing you are part way through that episode

hope this helps you.

Re: Sky Q awful to use

Hi Polly as much as I still loathe this system,  the voice search is actually pretty good and, dare I say it, better than anything Sky+ had.

Holding down the blue microphone button and saying "go to xxxx" works 9 times out of 10 for me.

To me, it is everything else Sky Q does that is inferior to it's predecessor.

I am not watching less TV just using the Mute button constantly to cut out unwanted sound while I manoeuvre around the system. Good luck for the remainder of your contract.

Sorry Polly I answered a different question to the one you commented on. I think Sky Q is sending me nuts.

Re: Sky Q awful to use

Sky Q user interface and remote is a total mess. I would say Sky + UI and remote was by far the best and easy to use and navigate. I am dissapointed with the new confusing and messed up User Interface. Didnt expect such a rubbish UI from Sky. Is there any way I can go change the UI ? When I start Sky Q totally useless screen comes up. Don't get it why they have created it. Can I go back to sky + HD ?

hi @twrwwrf

@PandJ2020 has answered your key points

We do try and let people know about this - I have some notes that we try to let potential movers see.

Regarding the Home page - it is a deliberate design decision by SKY to always present a page where they can highlight new & other content

Because Q is capable of doing far more than Sky+ ever did, and so has a graphical interface from 2016 rather than a channel list from 2004.

Totally agree,  the user interface is terrible,  more that two years now and it still frustrates the he'll out of me, so many programs are now pay extra subscription,  I am finally going to cancel  sky after more than twenty years of a product I used to really love,I am done!!!

Wow !

After reading this Thread I'm so glad I ignored Sky's constant phone calls and emails over recent years, trying to get me to 'Upgrade' to Sky Q.

Sky+HD is the best and I'll keep mine for as long as possible.

We definitely know that SKY Q is not for eveyone and my personal view is that the current remaining SKY HD customers may find the switch more a shock than adopters in earier years

Sorry I haven't double checked if I have posted a link to my notes on this discussion before but I don't think posting again will do any harmso here are the notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Re: Sky Q awful to use

Are there any figures available for the number of people still subscribed with Sky+HD compared to Q & Stream/Glass ?

As long as subscribers are paying and happy, I dont see why Sky cant allow them to continue to watch via an old system, plus let them use a refurbished Sky+ HD box if theirs fails.
