Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up a garden room down the bottom of the garden, know we going to need to to run an ethernet cable from main Sky router down to the garden room but want to have Sky tv and internet down there (for laptops/phones etc so wifi is better)
So question is do I just get a Sky Q mini (ethernet from main box into the mini) or do I need a router/booster and Sky Q mini down in the garden room? (i.e. does the Sky Q mini act as a wifi generator or just boost signal - because the house wifi doesn't reach the garden room so I need it to generate rather than extend if that makes sense?)
Currently just have the main router and sky Q box (will be adding multiroom for this purpose) and our internet is with Sky.

Hi @tony7262
As you are on Sky broadband the Q minis will automatically be WiFi Hotspots.
If the Hotspot WiFi isn't acceptable you could always get a simple Ethernet switch in your Garden room so that you can connect the mini and also connect a WiFi booster.

Re: Sky Q and wifi to garden room question
Thanks oldfella - I assume the WiFi hotspots all use the same account details as the main account? Or do I need to reconnect each time go from garden to house?
And do Sky sell/recommend a particular Ethernet switch or will any do the job?

Sky doesn't sell that kind of network hardware and won't recommend any: typically Q prefers unmanaged switches though.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Yes @tony7262
Q WiFi hotspots will have the same SSID and so would a booster if it is a Sky Q one.
A simple unmanaged Ethernet switch would be a Netgear 5 port Gigabit Network GS 305 or similar
