Hi,
we have a Sky Protect policy and I've just added devices to it but noticed that the cover is for an old Sky HD box, it's on me but I sort of assumed that when I upgraded to Sky Q they would ammend Sky protect accordingly.
my question is that as Sky Q is effectively on loan then it's covered anyway? So I don't really the Sky Protect policy.
so I either nee d to cancel the policy or update it to cover Sky Q but I can't find anything on MySky to tell me if Sky Q is covered anyway by the Sky Q contract.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Gingerbeard1838The additional benefits of Sky protect, if you want them, are accidental cover, and a guaranteed response time for repairs, it also covers the dish and cabling which you own although Sky normally repair free.
As the Q equipment is only borrowed any faults are dealt with free by Sky anyway.
If you want to continue with Sky Protect I would contact D&G to make sure they are covering your Q equipment. I have since cancelled my Sky Protect but did confirm with them it was covered I was told it was but they updated their records.

@Gingerbeard1838 further to @bob1234 response, if your policy is for just Sky Q equipment, as its loaned and they replace foc (apart from accidental damage), I wouldn't bother with Sky Protect.
Just my opinion and people may say you get a quicker response with the insurance, but I've never had an issue with response times.
Ps. Also I've been pestered by D&G in the past so don't have a good opinion of them.

Sky Protect say next day or they give a small refund, I have never tried it so I can't comment on how good it is. The only time I have called Sky out it took 7 days for them to come out, others have had better/worse response times.
Tongue in cheek I suppose the real advantage is having a phone number that is easier to use. If I had Sky Protect I would use it for any faults, they are the same engineers as Sky's anyway.

True, its swings and roundabouts really....

Thanks for all the replies. So I need to contact Sky Protect to confirm Sky Q coverage and then decide if the potentially quicker cover is worth it .
Probably not I think, it's quite a bit per month and the devices covered are also covered by household insurance.
Thanks again everyone
