Sky Q & Mini box problem since moving BT Broadband

I recently moved my broadband to BT and am having issues with Sky Q and mini box. The mini comes up with a number of error messages such as no internet connection or unable to connect to the sky Q box. The Sky Q box also looses internet connection.  The mini box is located in our loft conversion where we have a BT Wi-Fi disc. When I looked at the Sky settings it says that internet connection is good and Sky Q and mini box are connected to each other. When looking at my BT settings, my sky Q box is connected to the BT Wi-Fi disc and not the BT main hub that is in the same room. I have contacted BT where they said I need to contact Sky as it's a SkyQ connection issues. Could anyone advise on how to sort this problem. Thank you

Whole home discs?  If so, Q will only work if they are connected to a disc via Ethernet.

I have a BT smart hub in the lounge where the Sky Q box is. The BT Wi-Fi disc is upstairs (2 floors) in our bedroom. Should the Sky Q box connect to the smart hub as it keeps connecting to the disc, is this correct?

By default (for a non-Sky ISP) the Q boxes will create their own 5GHz ch 36 network to connect to each other.

I suspect your mini is too far away to connect or your BT router is clashing on that frequency.

You can either ask Sky for a signal booster but the better way would be to disable the WiFi on the Q boxes and use Ethernet to connect to your BT discs - they will use the backhaul on that.  If you try and connect Q boxes to the discs via WiFi they will disconnect after around 30 seconds.

My Q wpuld connect to the most random disk. It was really annoying. I use ethernet to connect it to one now. This means that the Q can then use the wholehome mesh. With non Sky broadband, the mini cannot use your wifi mesh to get to the Q. It has to go direct unless you involve some cables.

What @PandJ2020 said. Your optimal set up in this scenario is:

1. Turn off the WiFi on both Q boxes
2. Ethernet connection to the main Q box from the Smart Hub
3. Ethernet connection to the mini Q box from the BT WiFi disc

Sorry folks, DO NOT ethernet your mini to a disk ever. One Q connects to BT hub, w/less or hardwired, rest connect to each other. 2rd party mesh/Boosters/repeaters do not work reliably on SkyQ.

They don't work reliably full stop. Their own wifi is hopeless so going via another physical layer has worked much better for me.

I currently have BT Complete WIFI - with BT router and three BT discs to cover whole house. We want to move away from BT TV due to inadequate multi-room functionality. Will Sky Q (with 2 mini boxes) be compatible with this BT mesh set up, or must I switch to Sky broadband as well?

You don't have to have Sky broadband (I'm with VirginMedia).  In terms will it work with your current mesh I can't guarantee.  My 'original' (white) Wholehome discs work perfectly for me but there are varying reports out there...

My setup is similar to this and works fine. I use BT Wholehome mesh but an indie fttp ISP (used to be on BT, that also worked). Only difference is I use powerlines from the minis to the Q instead of also hanging them off mesh nodes. Logistics of that didn't work for me.

Trying to use wifi - no. The minis will not use the mesh in that case and you will endure considerable emotional hardship.
