Sky Q UHD no better than HD (but UHD HDR is superb) on new LG G3
I've tested different resolutions of the same sky download films/series. I have the new LG G3.
uhd/hdr looks superb. The LG gives me a message that uhd/hdr is being displayed.
uhd (ie not uhd/hdr) looks no better than hd. I don't get a message on the tv to say it's showing uhd...nothing to show its 4k.
Surely uhd should be a better picture than hd and the tv should recognise the 4k content?
anyone got the same issue or any solutions?

UHD downloads are noticeably larger than their HD counterparts - they should be noticeably sharper. But if your Q box is set to 2160P then the Q box upscales HD to UHD.
The TV may be doing its own processing too - I tend to stick to filmmaker mode.

It all depends on the size of the screen that you're viewing it on. A UHD picture may not show much difference on a 42-inch screen from a standard 1080i broadcast, but enlarge that to a 70-85 inch screen and the difference is VERY noticeable. The HDR definitely adds to the color palate, making the picture look quite a bit more lifelike than without.

I think the smallest G3 is 55" but yeah the lack of TV "noticing" the resolution change is because it is always getting 2160p fron the Q. It picks up on the colour depth change from 8bit to 10bit when HDR content is sent.
I can definitely see a difference between HD and UHD SDR stuff on my Panny OLED which is 65" and could on the previous 55" one too.
