Sky Q UHD HDR box not turning on

hey all, 

been a while 😁

so, been on 2TB Sky Q UHD  HDR since launch and had intermittent problems with a Samsung HDR TV that would not display the Sky Q picture, when coming out of standby in the mornings.

Only Sky Q was an issue.

Had to revert to 1080i or reboot SkyQ to get it back, massive faff and wife complaints.

we got so fed up with it, decided it was a good excuse to get a new TV, so got an LG G4 OLED.

still had the issue on the LG, sigh!

Replaced HDMI cable, same issue, tried the various eco modes, same issue.

Spoke to Sky, they sent a replacement box and same issue.

I am at the end of my tether with it and wife is getting crosser.

have to do 1080 home to get it to work, then when she wants to watch a UHD program.... she has to set it all up again. But with the LG it is worse as it is a 10bit screen, sometimes the Sky box does not pick up it is a 10bit screen so then I have to reset the picture depth.

its a real faff and not what it should be.

anyone got anything to suggest I try?

All firmware is up to date, good quality HDMI 2.1 certified cables.

Given SkyQ development has switched to Stream and Glass.... I am thinking would Stream be more reliable?

I had a quick check on AV Forums and there was a suggestion to make sure the G4's quick start option (General ->System -> Additional Settings ) was turned off.  

I'd also have a look at the HDMI settings (General -> External Devices) on the G4 and see if switching/toggling any of those help? (Deep Colour and SIMPLINK would ones to look at.) If you don't need eARC try another HDMI input (I'm pretty sure that you would have done but it would be remiss of me not to suggest it.)

Thanks, will give those a go.

I need eARC for my Sonos Arc and Deep Colour for 10 Bit HDR, I think..... but will have a dig into those settings

I don't think the Q will be attached to the earc port. Presumably the Sonos is?

Yup, Sonos is on eARC
