Sky Q Mini not connecting to router

Hello,

I have recently bought a Sky Q mini box for a new TV in our kitchen. When attempting to connect to my BT broadband router via ethernet cable, it's knocking out the wireless connection from the router to the main TV in my sitting room. Any ideas on how to resolve?

Many thanks

Andy

Hi @Andy+Burton

You cannot buy Q boxes as they are only available from Sky and are rented for the duration of your subscription.

I assume the Mini came from Sky and you have the monthly Multiscreen subscription?

If It didn't then afraid Sky will block its use.

It it came from Sky and you have Multiscreen  sub then this is OK.

Ref your issue.  On 3rd party broadband you cannot connect a mini by Ethernet to your router unless all Q boxes are on Ethernet.

If this isn't the case then the mini must be connected to the main Q box Ethernet and not the BT router.

@oldfella also thanks, I hadn't appreciated that all Q Boxes had to be connected via Ethernet.

Hi @Andy+Burton

That's if you want to connect any mini to a 3rd party router.   Then all boxes mus be connected to the router either directly or through simple unmanaged Ethernet switches.

However if you connect a mini by Ethernet to your main Q box,  then others can be on WiFi.
