We recently ordered a Sky Q Mini to put in our summer house in the garden. We couldn't connect via the WPS button on the main Sky Q box as it's too far away (approximately 30m from the house).
After calling Sky they advised I could connect via the WPS button on the router in the summer house and this worked. We are also able to connect to the Sky Q via an ethernet cable from the summer house router to the mini Q box.
In the settings, I have seen that it has successfully connected to the Sky Q main box and the network however, every channel says 'technical fault' and the tv guide won't load.
The advisor on the phone suggested restarting the mini box and also pulling the mains power out and turning it on again after a minute, but this hasn't worked.
I wondered if anyone has had similar issues or a problem and was able to get to a resolution? If not, engineer will need to be called I guess.
Just to clarify the set up:
In the house we have the main Sky Q Box
There is an ethernet cable under the ground from the house's main BT router to a seperate TP-link router in the summer house.

After some investigation, and your help, I've solved the problem!
By changing the router in the summer house's setting to 'access point' rather than router it was then working as an extension from the main router and had the same IP. The Sky mini then worked fine! We are using an ethernet straight into the summer house router to the box but it does work using the WPS function on the summer house router too.
Hopefully this helps if anyone else has the same situation in the future.

How is your main box connected to your BT router - via ethernet or wifi ?
As your provider is not SKY then the mini will either connect using a wifi signal generated by the main box (which would be too far I am guessing) or needs to connect vi etherenet on the same network to the main box either directly or via the main router or an unmanaged switch.
Using a second router in the summer house will not work for the mini as it will use a different network to the main one
