Sky Q Mini connected by Ethernet, SKY say it can’t act as a hotspot as it’s wired?

Hi,

I posted last week, thanks all for replies, about my 2 hard wired Mini boxes now not acting as hotspots.
I've just spoken to Sky who were helpful but said that the minis won't be able to act as hotspots as they're Ethernet connected.
I said I found this odd as they've always seemed to have worked until a few weeks ago. I swapped to a third party broadband 16 months ago and they were ok after that after reactivating the minis.
I've tried all the tips on this forum, and an engineer is visiting anyway, but wondered whether anyone has come across what Sky have said today about if hard wired they can't act as hotspots?

The ability for Mini boxes to act as hotspots while also using an ethernet backhaul has always been questionable: because by definition they must have their own WiFi enabled for that role, they may be using WiFi between themselves too.

The original (2016) 'hybrid mesh' was supposed to use wireless and Powerline rather than ethernet.

Hi @harnettfamily

Provided the minis have not had their WiFi switched of they will act as Hotspots.  However on 3rd Party Broadband the Hotspots must be activated in the main Qbox menu.
