Sky Q Essentials why am I paying £15?

so I've just signed up to a new package as my sky+ box is no longer being supported.

Got offered Sky Q box for free and Sky Q Essentials, for £15 per month, which looking at stream, I thought was a reasonable price.

UNTIL I realised Sky Q Essentials IS NOT the same as Sky TV Essentials!

2 questions.

1: am I the only one that didn't realise the Q essentials is different to TV essentials?

2: why am I paying £15 for channels that are already free-to-air?


Sorry I'm venting but I've spent 40 minutes on chat trying to sort the package out, then just as I relized my mistake the chat cut off!

Because you get to keep the Q box and recording functionality etc.

The product names are:

'Television Essentials' (Sky+ HD & Sky Q) 

'Essential TV' (Sky Glass & Sky Stream)

Various sources, including AI search results, get these horribly confused.
