Sadly that doesn't help. That just helps if you have Internet or broadband in the house. But thank you

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs you have Q then a mini box (and multiroom sub) will work. It doesn't use your internet connection for the main box and mini to connect to each other.

Sadly I was told you have to have Internet for th sky mini box to work. I did try and it doesn't work with-out Internet.

Did Sky come and install Sky Q?

Once it has been activated then you should not need an internet connection - but see the section on the link that @Quoman7 gave regarding it's restrictions.
Assuming it was properly activated on installation then I think your problem is just the connection between the mini & your main box.
It uses wifi although it can also (more reliably) use ethernet cables
it does need an active router but does not rely on that having a stable / good internet connection.
Is your router always on ?
Who is your internet provider (albeit poor) ?
If it is not SKY then it will not use your home wifi but will use a wifi signal generated by the main box so it will depend on where all your boxes are located and any possible sources of interference
