Signal issue ok with sat finder plugged into lnb, but when I power the finder off, I also lose signa
Hi , I am a seasoned sky caravannet, on my last outing, I aligned my dish using my finder and got a good signal (it has a buildt in receiver and is tuned to SC4 on Astra 2).
The signal was good in the caravan on the sky Q box. But when I removed the finder I lost the signal in the can. This was repeatable, switching on and signal reappeared. It is as if the lnb was getting no power from the sky box? O have changed the lnb and still the same?

Do you have a Hybrid or Smart LNB or a dSCR capable LNB - SKY Q uses a different frequency range to Universal LNBs that Satfinders & other Freesat Box (& SKY HD boxes) use
(BTW Maybe I should mention the T&Cs regarding where you can use your box)

I have a hybrid (2 gold for sky Q, and 4 regular) , I have used this setup for years with no issue, just odd that it works with the sat alignment device powered up, but not with it powered down.

mm strange - Personally I would expect each LNB to rely on it's own power and certainly wouldn't expect any cross from the Universal inputs to the Wideband inputs.
Just out of interest did you check both polarities on Q (each cable carrying one) ?

Thanks for the reply, I didn't. I did check continuity on both inner and outers. I'll try that tomorrow. Box back under the telly and working fine. I"m using the blue flexible cable from Maxview but continuity was fine.

@ChrisGalletly just to pick up again on what @nigea99 mentioned it is against your T& C's to use your Sky viewing card/equipment away from your registered address so seeking advice on a Sky run forum is not the best thing to do
I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

I am using it at my registered address, the caravan is currently on the drive, but thanks for your helpful reply.

Hi @Colinbrash You need to contact Sky and arrange an installer visit. Could be a very long wait (due to the recent storms!).
