Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

They did come and give me a new box and improve signal strength for me though so always worth getting an engineer out

Problem has returned since then, engineer wanted me to run the system on 8 bit though

10bit engages HDR though which is a much nice picture in my opinion

Thanks that's reassuring in a way. Let's hope they do something. It seems to stop if I restart the box and set it back to 1080p but then that completely defeats the object of having a uhd 4k oled tv capable of 8, 10 and 12 bits so the fact I can't use it even on 8 bits is very annoying.

I've gone through the complete tick list also but this is a Sky problem, noting to do with your equipment

Unless the box is faulty, which is possible, this sounds far more likely to be a cable/connection issue. Or possibly also a faulty TV losing sync. Which hdmi cables did you try and how are they connected? Anything in between?

I have never had these problems at 2160/10

Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

I've tried the sky cable that came with it and a 2.1 hdmi with 48ghz speed brand new i also have the same one connected to my 4K blu ray player and I get 12 bit connection 60 hz refresh rate with no issues with resolution, hdr or any type of drop out audio or picture. It could well be faulty equipment or wear and tear after 8 years of use I guess. This is first time we've had a 4k tv though. Panasonic oled. Nothing in between sky q box and tv. Maybe it just needs a good old fashioned cleaning/airing out. I may give sky a ring tomorrow and see what they suggest.

Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

Thanks for letting us know, I've got top notch hdmi cables and new box after engineer came out and still have issues. It is a problem with Sky itself, I won't be told otherwise at this stage as gone through everything asked multiple times and that includes with a sky engineer stood beside me

I don't have any of these issues with other inputs on my tv

Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

I read a similar post which talks about the same fault for LG tvs and it ended up being a tv fault from a specific model I think. I have a Panasonic oled TV42Z90AEB, for any of you guys having the problem what tv do you have? I'm just trying to rule things out.

I'm sure I remember some thread on here implicating the z90 in some problem. Can't remember what it was though 😕

I've tried a factory reset on the tv and also a pending update and put all the settings back to 10 bit. Still persists on all hdmi inputs and different cables I've tried but not as much for some reason. Just trying it on 8 bit at the minute.

Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

Hi all,

I am a new user and am having this black screen problem.

My husband was with Sky for 16 yrs and cancelled because of price increases and is waiting for the returns box to send his Sky Q box back, which I assume is an older model Sky Q box, as it is slightly diffferent.

He didn't have this problem with his box.

Can I use the old box with my viewing card?

If not, as it appears that Sky cannot solve this problem, I shall cancel and go with Freesat, before the 30 days option is up.

I have tried all the above suggestions, but to no avail.

Unfortunately we're all waiting on Sky to resolve it I believe

Just reading through this thread with interest as I'm experiencing same problems. Here's hoping sky can resolve 🤞🤞

Sky are doing nothing to attempt to resolve this, because it's a local box or cable or TV or compatibility issue.

Unless you mean you're going to call them to ask for help troubleshooting?

Re: Screen goes black momentarily then comes back on after a serving of two

Just working through the various suggestions on this thread (new cables, wiping card etc) just 8 bit and check auto powersave settings to try next and see how that goes.

It's a new TV and had no issues with old set so leaning towards settings somewhere so will keep adjusting. It's very intermittent so not a huge issue at the minute

thanks

Neil

Were you using 10bit before?

It's a hisense TV and not using previously...I don't think as old TV was over 10 years old 🙂
