I suspect I already know the answer to this but... here goes!
Bought the Samsung UE43CU8500 - wall mounted and put all the cables where they had been on my old one.
TV turned on, no issue, when I used the Sky Q remote without even setting up - because it won't turn off, although I can see the LED on the TV flickering as I point the remote for a long hold at the TV.
I have checked the TV settings - and Anynet+ (Samsung's CEC?) was on by default.
I have re-paired the remote a couple of times now, and have worked through all of the remote settings (a choice of 1-9) and just have to turn it off with the normal remote at the moment - which is a bit of a faff but ... first world problem i guess... but would be good to know if I have tried all reasonable solutions - as I am all out of ideas!
Many thanks!

Try disabling Anynet+ (Samsung's CEC): Although Anynet+ is designed to simplify the control of multiple devices through HDMI, it can sometimes cause issues with remote control functionality. Try disabling Anynet+ in the TV settings to see if this resolves the issue.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou need to hold the power button for 2-3 seconds to send a TV off signal.

We are making a *bit* of progress.
Turned off Anynet
VERY long hold and the TV turned off...
Then..... turned itself on again - I think because the decorator who was putting up the bracket 'helpfully' initialised the smart remote so I think I need to figure out how to turn that off.
But we are slowly getting somewhere-ish
