I've just got a new Samsung QN90B TV and Q990C soundbar surround system and Q symphony doesn't work with Sky Q, it only works with Apps on the TV itseld (Netflix, Disny etc)
I have it set up so the the Sky Q HDMI goes into the Soundbar, then the TV is connected to the Soundbar via eARC HDMI.
Does anyone know why Q symphony is not working with SkQ and how to fix it please?

Have you tried with the Q box going into a television HDMI port?
I'd observe that's a rather strange brand name for Samsung to choose, as it actually has no relationship with Sky Q.

You will also need to change the source on your soundbar to D.IN. To do this, press Source on the soundbar’s remote until “D.IN” appears.
Once the soundbar has been connected and D.IN is set, “TV+Soundbar” will appear under the Sound Output menu of the TV. Select the corresponding option. Now Q-Symphony will activate, and you’ll hear amazing surround sound.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I realise the Q symphony is not related to Sky Q, just an odd coincidence 😉
I've not tried connecting the Sky Q stright into the TV for two reasons, first one is I don't have a long enough HDMI cable (D'oh) although one's on order, but also I've seen loads of posts saying that if you connect Sky Q directly into the TV it causes lip sync issues. I definitely had this with my 'old' TV and Blu-Ray Surround system.
That being said, as I've mentioned I am going to try connecting Sky Q straight into the TV when my longer HDMI arrives to see what results I get. I'm kinda hoping there's a solution to being able to have it when connected to the soundbar though, you'd have thought being as the TV and Soundbar are both Samsung they'd communicate better 😞

The other usual advice is to try each if the sound output types on the Q box in turn.

Thanks again. I missed your post about D:In but I have it set to that as that was the first thing I read about, but TV+Soundbar doesn't come up. Well actually that's not strictly true, it does come up but for WiFi, and if I select that option there's no TV and Audio input from Sky as obviously you need HDMI as the source.
When you mention the different sound outputs from Sky are you referring to Dolby, Dolby Digital and Dolby DIgital plus?

Were you able to resolve the issue, if not try to change the HDMI port connection on your TV from eARC to a normal HDMI port, this will allow you to watch the content in TV+Q Symphony option. Give it a shot and see if it works.

@snerkler Fair enough but Q-Symphony does only work with devices connected directly to the TV, not to the soundbar. As Q-Symphony uses the TV's speakers, along with a compatible Samsung soundbar.

Hi, you have to connect the the SKY Q box directly to the TV, not through the soundbar. Also connect the soundbar to the TV via the eARC HDMI. Remember to use 4K 2.1 certified cables. Finally, you need to go into the sound settings on the TV and select TV + Soundbar HDMI-eARC).
