Hi all,
We're moving from TalkTalk (terrible providers) to Sky and the install date is next week for Broadband and SKYQ.
since moving into the current house we're in we have been unable to get any freeview channels on the arial leads in the house - when SKY come to install SKYQ if there is no signal will then repair/install whatever is needed to ensure we have an arial/dish reception to the SKYQ box so we can watch freeview channels as well as on demand ones.
Any help appreciated - parter is pregnant and i'd like her to be able to chill and watch TV while on maternity.

Sky is a satellite service. A dish and new cabling will be installed to give you the service. The aerial cables you currently have are completely seperate and nothing to do with the satellite service so the installer will not do anything with them.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@BaileyG No , Sky will install your Dish & Sky Q box only and any minis if ordered they won't do anything with your aerial or the leads from it. If you want to get freeview in other rooms from your aerial you'll need to employ a local aerial installer.
Sky Q will give you all the channels available on freeview to your main TV & Minis (if ordered), but that is all. You won't need an aerial connection to the TV you have Sky Q and any minis on.

Freeview (aka 'digital terrestrial') requires an aerial, and Sky don't do aerials (being a satellite television company).
For Freesat to other reception hardware alongside Sky Q you need to insist Sky supply a Q 'hybrid' LNB for the satellite dish, which can be hard work to obtain, and should be confirmed with both the call centre and the installer in advance. Strictly speaking Sky only have to supply one where there's existing Freesat equipment already in use when the order for a Q subscription is placed.

If you mean will you get access to the standard 'free-to-air' channels (ie BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4, etc) - then yes, your Sky Q box will give you access to all these channels without need for a Freeview aerial, but the signal will come from the satellite.

Thanks guys!
So the installer will fit a dish and all cabling needed to get freeview channels and on demand channels?
Good to hear 🙂

Forget about Freeview when you refer to your Q box, it would be Freesat channels, Freeview is something entirely different.
