I have a sky q with 4 sky q minis and the WiFi connection is terrible and totally unreliable. I had sky broadband as I thought that maybe that would make the connection better but it turned out that this was pretty shoddy also. After many calls and many engineer visits Sky agreed to cancel my broadband contract with no penalty because of the terrible speeds i was getting. My main skyq box was unreliable so that was replaced and my sky q minis well what can i say we stopped using them for the most part. I then switched my broadband to Virgin Media and since then I've had no internet issues at all except with sky. Whilst this did make my sky q and sky minis work a lot better it still constantly suffers from slow connections even though every other device in my network works a full speed and no issues at all. Netflix through sky is way slower than if I watch Netflix through the smart tv on the same tv. It's about time that sky admits that the WiFi equipment inside these sky boxes is poor quality rather than keep blaming you WiFi config or your mesh positions. I have a 1gb Virgin Broadband and my Virgin TV doesn't suffer any of these issues. The only reason I'm persisting with Sky at the moment is because my family like the SKY UI which I do think is better than the Virgin TV but unfortunately I'm coming to the conclusion that cancellation may be the only option which is a shame.

Do the minis work ok? I mean are there any issues watching channels, recordings etc.
I just ask that first because if you start trying things with changing WiFi settings it opens up a whole rabbit hole of other issues.
My own experience has been to avoid using apps on the sky boxes and use smart TV apps/ Chromecast where possible.
You could look at trying to improve internet speeds to your main Q box and the best way would be a wired/ethernet connection back to the router. Obviously a direct cable from q main to router would be best but not always realistic. This brings in something like powerline adaptors but opens up the possible need for a powerline at each sky box.
I would suggest weighing up how well the minis currently work for watching sky versus how much you need a fast internet connection on your sky equipment as the decider before you start changing anything.
