SKY Q How do I turn off the pause notification that opaques the lower screen

  • When a programme, live or recorded is paused, the lower 25% of the screen is covered or blurred, preventing the reading of information in this quarter. The weather is an example of this with the time covered. Can this be  removed.

This is annoying, however if you go to Home > Settings > Accessibility > High Contrast the transparency is increased, making the "under content" clearer/easier to read.

Works for me!

Just press dismiss key (3/4 box with arrow pointing left) as advised above

Hi Invisi,

Thanks for the reply.

I saw that from Daniel earlier, but was unable to edit my post to corroborate that.

One of the reasons people want to get rid of the huge banner is that it takes up 25% of the screen (unlike Sky HD, which was discrete). Using the tip I mentioned above, you are able to read the text behind the transparency screen.

But it's even easier to just press dismiss and the banner completely disappears.

Even when you are fast forwarding? Or rewinding? Checking the scores of a sport, or a quiz?

That wasn't the original question, this obviously only works when on pause.

You're right! Say you're watching Countdown and press pause, not to cheat, but because kettle just boiled 😉 , and the banner appears right over the letters, so you have to press dismiss to see them, which is annoying.

Using your method, the letters are still visible. Brilliant!
