Returning Sky Q Equipment - Main Sky Q Box

Hi All,

Apologies if posting in the wrong area.

We cancelled Sky Q last month and I need to return the main Sky Q box (the box with all the recordings on).

The plan was to power on the box, delete any recordings and then check if any applications were still logged in (and if logged in, log out). But on checking the day after the services stopped, I see "... to use this service, please upgrade your subscription". My fault for being slow.

2 Questions:

+ If on the main Sky Q box we RESET THE HARD DRIVE and then FACTORY RESET (from the hidden service menu), is this enough to be happy that the recordings/ logged in apps hidden behind that message will get deleted/ logged off?

+ Also, do I need to return the viewing card? I was thinking of just shredding it for privacy.

Many Thanks,

RL4.

Sky will wipe the box but I dbout it will be used again as Sky Q is being replaced with Sky stream, there's no reason for you to keep the viewing card so it's best to return this too. If you ever join gain then it's unlikely you would go back to Sky Q as sky stream is going to be the way forward

Hi @RoaringLion4_UK   Sky will 'wipe' the box before sending it out again. I would hang on to the viewing card, just in case you return sometime in the future. Sky will assume that you kept it.

@RoaringLion4_UK

Sky Q has a limited lifespan of another 3-4 years. It is still available to order (only by calling Customer Services) so on the off chance you change your mind and decide to re-subscribe I would suggest retaining the viewing card. If you re-ordered Sky Q Sky wouldn't automatically send you a new card. They will have assumed you retained the current one.

Viewing Cards aren't SIMs: they don't store any user data.
