Return of unused multi room box to Sky

I was contacted by Sky before Christmas and offered a Sky multi room box which was free and I was under the impression that there was no monthly charge.  I have now found out that the is a monthly charge of £5.

I contacted Sky the following day to try and cancel but was informed the equipment was with Royal Mail and nothing could be done until I received the equipment.  The parcel duly arrived, it is unopened and I wish for it to be returned and the contract for it to be cancelled immediately.

if you had a multiroom sub already then there's no additional monthly  charge.

If you're getting multiroom at £5 then that's a massive discount from list but more than £0.

You'll have to call Sky to give any notice to cancel and/or return items.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@Steven7265

It can't/won't be cancelled immediately. To remove part of your Sky Q/+ TV package you will need to contact Sky and give 31 days notice. Be aware if you have 'in contract' discounts you may not be able to remove them. Also make sure cancellation of a certain add-on doesn’t cancel another discount.

Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link may include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.

If you are cancelling Sky Multiscreen the return packaging for the mini box will be sent out towards the end of your notice period. Don’t forget to keep your proof of posting indefinitely.

@Steven7265 as others have said you will need to contact Sky i'd ask them to listen back to the conversation you had with the advisor where they said there would be no monthly charge and ask them to either honour that or allow you to cancel multiscreen with no charge
