I have no concerns at this time other than the rediculously short dish input 1 cable.

If you searched for a Push-ON / Pull-OFF quick release F connector adaptor, which is what quite a few of us use on our test meter cables, you could easily add 2.3 cm to the effective length of the coaxial cable that you suggest is presently a bit too short for comfort.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

Thanks I've a few mins to search for the push/pull f connector you kindly mentioned and the brackets to consider.

Sat sig seems stable since yesterday.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

I'm not certain about the F connector.

Is it possible to purchase a short peice of sat cable as I could as suggested by a kind forum poster-extend my dish input 1 cable maybe by adding an extra peice of cable-though I don;t need 10 meters that I've just seen on another site.

The F connector sounds simple to connect where the cable is already attached to original cable-which it is unless I had to move q box at all, i.e. not secure at all,

@Godfrey Is there a link for your recommended quick releases F connector and a short piece of sat cable.

Via amazon I've 26.98 total router bracket+Apple 4k t.v. Bracket.

I presume I could continue to sit both devices on top of Q  with these brackets.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

Which type of sat cable shall I purchase and if I extend input 1 cable do I javelin to purchase shotgun cable and extend inout1+2 cables rather than one or the other.

Asking ahead of ordering all required bits from Amazon.

This acceptable as input 1 cable extension

I must admit that I am also concerned that you are continuing to attempt to justify placing your Sky Q receiver in a cabinet that does not have an open back, let alone placing other devices on top of it, but that is just my personal opinion as a retired specialist engineer with over 31 years experience in the design, operation and maintenance of professional broadcast equipment.

If you scroll up from the link to the Push-ON / Pull-OFF adaptor you should see a Back to Back F coupler.

Thanks all whom replied. Efforts are appreciated.

I shall complete extension and f connector tweak before proceeding with brackets ordering.

It's been fun at least getting to use ipad 10.5 camera for a while.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

This is what I believe in-

It’s completely normal for your Sky Q boxes to be warm as they’re built with “breathable plastic” that naturally releases heat through the top of the boxes.

@Donfor What others are concerned about me included is that the Sky Q box does get warm and yours is located in a unit with no way for the heat to escape.

You've ascertained that naturally releases heat through the top of the boxes.

The Sky Q router releases heat from the top and the bottom adding to more heat build up within the confined space.

You also say 'breathable plastic' but if you are going to put things  on top then it's unable to breathe effectively that's why I suggested the brackets.

I'm waiting for a bracket for my 4K🔥TV It's not placed on my Sky Q box it dangles below the tv and looks out of place.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

Things are not always what they seem, I have a 24" TV standing on top of a mini box, this you would think was the worse possible set up.

However the TV has a lightweight alloy stand which works as a heat sink and it actually drops the temperature of the mini box 2 degrees compared to free standing.
