Q mini keep showing that too many boxes are in use

I have Sky Q with 4 Q minis, I know that only 3 can be in use at anyone time, but the problem keeps popping up were if just the 1, or 2, boxes is/are turned on , it shows that it cant be used as there are too many boxes in use, even though the remaining boxes are in standby. Is there a reason for this to happen and can i stop it from happening?

hi @nundi

The limit is 2 minis not 3 - although the marketing is a little ambiguous as it mentions 3 TVs which is the main box + 2 minis

Thanks for confirming that for me, but it doesnt tell me why it will do it when only 1 mini is in use.

Hi @nundi

You can have up to four minis installed on loan each subject to a one off upfront charge and all under by one single Q monthly Multiscreen subscription
However only two minis can be used simultaneously on all 2 TB boxes and the 1 TB UHD Main boxes to watch Sky Q content.
The original 1 TB non UHD box (32Cxx) only permits the use of one mini at a time.
If Sky Apps are already being used on some of the minis these will not normally be counted as in Q use and therefore can be used in addition to the above limits.
See the following link for the Versions of main Q box referred to above.

@Scruffy-1

Please confirm hardware version of main Q: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-software-updates

Also, are all boxes on same major software version?

As the mini's act as a slaves to the main Q it's worth rebooting the main box to re initiate connections.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Hi @Scruffy-1 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on, the do the same with any Mini boxes?
