Q BOX LOOKING FOR WIFI WHICH IS NOT THE WIFI I HAVE
Once again switch on Sky Q TV this morning which is showing no internet connection. My Q box is connected with WiFi. Second time this week this has happened. Everything else internet or wifi is working fine. Check settings - it's shows me it can't connect to my internet provider. I'm not surprised - my internet provider and WiFi comes from VIRGIN - NOT Sky.
Been using Virgin internet with Sky for over 20 years. Why now does it want to connect to a SKY WIFI when I don't have SKY WIFI. It looks suspiciously like my neighbour's wifi as this comes up on my iPhone's wifi along with others.
I checked with Virgin - there is nothing they can do - it's down to Sky to fix it at their end they said - which I could well believe since the settings are showing they wish to connect to a SKY wifi.
I'd like a simple explanation of what's going on here if possible and how to fix it permanently. Keep in mind I am not technical at all.

Re: Q BOX LOOKING FOR WIFI WHICH IS NOT THE WIFI I HAVE
This often comes up and people always think it's their neighbours WiFi, but it's just your Sky boxes internal mesh network. I'm on Virgin broadband but the Sky box shows as connected to a network with a name like 'Sky345678". It's perfectly normal. Whatever ISP you're on, the Sky box will show as connected to a Sky network. This isn't the cause of the connectivity problem you're having.

Re: Q BOX LOOKING FOR WIFI WHICH IS NOT THE WIFI I HAVE
Not it doesn't. Mine, when working always ALWAYS shows Virgin and that is when it's all okay and I can get access to apps etc and everything on TV
When it comes up showing it's TRYING to connect to the SKY wifi I don't have ANY ACCESS to apps or anything at all It's TRYING TO CONNECT TO WIFI I DO NOT HAVE
So I feel your explanation is wrong in this case

Re: Q BOX LOOKING FOR WIFI WHICH IS NOT THE WIFI I HAVE
I was with virgin until last december and had something similar, ended up using cables and powerline adapters and turned off the Wifi completely on the main and minis.

Watchguard M500 Firewall multi wan setup using SDwan for routing
3x WG AP300 Access points

Your use of capitals and random underlining is making your posts hard to read.

Re: Q BOX LOOKING FOR WIFI WHICH IS NOT THE WIFI I HAVE
Try splitting your SSID's into 2.4 and 5GHz bands - the Q will only connect to the 2.4 band for a non-Sky ISP.
Any steering by your router will disconnect it.
