It sounds like it's happening to you on content streamed via the apps on Q, not during satellite broadcasts. All Discovery content comes via the app, not via a channel/station.
It's not uncommon unfortunately. Sky's implementation of adverts on streamed content is not very good and can often cause glitches due to the apps being hosted on a server and the added latency this introduces. Coupled with the lack of processing power on the Q box, it's quite hit and miss I'm afraid.
Give your Q box a reboot (turn off at the wall for a minute then back on) and see if that improves things in any way.
