Partner left and sky contract in his name cancelled, does she really need to return equipment.

Hi all.

My daughter and her husband separated some time ago, the account was in his name but he no longer lives there. My daughter continued to pay the bill but the 18 month contract is coming to an end.

She has been informed that he needs to cancel the contract, which he has done today, and she will have to set up a new contract after the notice period.

Does anyone know if ther is there some sort of 'second hand contract' as the equipment is already in place at her home, does it really have to be returned and new boxes sent out with the new contract?

Is it possible to set up a new account in her name using this, and if so, who should she contact please. We canot seem to get past the phone bot!

Many thanks in anticipation, Jill

@jretigan Afraid as the contract is in you daughters ex's name Sky will want the equipment returned then they will supply new equipment when your daughter takes out a new contract.

I agree it does seem silly but Sky don't have a way of transferring equipment from one account to another and if they could do that it could cause more problems so easier to end one contract return the boxes that are registrered to that contract and the take out a new contract where the new boxes will be registered against that contract

@jretigan

The equipment will need to be returned. When the new subscription is arranged a new box, remote and any ordered mini boxes will be dispatched.
