Hi all.
My parents have recently upgraded to SKYUHD.
They have a LG C1 (Same as me, some more than capable of dealing with UHD), upon setting it up, they haven't recieved a newer box or different HDMI lead? When selecting the 2160p setting, it only let them select 8-bit not 10?
(As on mine, I had an upgraded box and HDMI, so i get 10-bit)
The other thing i noticed when they selected a UHD download or channel (SkySports for example), the TV didn't recongnise it was player HDR content?
Could anybody assist me with this please. 😊

hi @elthompo27
I suspect you/they need to go into the HDMI settings on the TV and make sure it is set up correctly - I think on LG the setting is Deep color
As the box is capable of setting 2160 8 bit it will also be capable of 10 bit
HDR content will only show if the box is set to 10 bit - although it will also depend if the box is HDR capable
Check :
Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version
if it is 32B0xxx then it is UHD capable but not HDR capable
if it is 32B1xxx or 32B2xxx then it is both UHD & HDR capable

Thanks for getting back to me.
This deep colour setting, is this where it tells you to enable you HDMI 4k?
I don't think I have done this 🤣
I will double check.

Also,
What is the point in a UHD content, if it isn't HDR ??

There is a difference but it is no where near as noticable - it can depend on the content
The original UHD boxes were out before HDR was generally (or possibly totally) available on TVs
Watching the F1 in UHD (SDR) before last season was definitely better than HD & some shows I remember (A discovery of Witches S1 being one) but not the big difference that HDR has now made
