Paramount + buffering and sky box making a fan noise

When watching paramount, it's ok for 20 mins then it starts to buffer, it still plays but the screen goes darker and the wheel of death spins, the box then starts to make a loud fan type noise which will only stop when I turn it off at the mains. No other app does this however Betflix can take an age to load, even having to go in and out of other apps before Netflix will load.

We are having exactly the same issue, worryingly the fan doesn't stop once you move off of Paramount.  Is there a solution? We surely dont need to keep unplugging the unit from the mains?

I had an engineer come out and fitted a new box, it still buffers on paramount but the fan doesn't come on, we've recently had full fibre installed so he told me to speak to the broadband tech team, Netflix just through us out yesterday and 4 times since full fibre was fitted the phone line has been down so internet has been off, I reset the router then it's fine. I'm phoning them today because it's ridiculous.

Hi @living+my+life+my+way Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on?.

Yes we have done this , frequently but as soon as we go back onto Paramount the fan starts up again and doesnt go off. its not in an enclosed cupboard and nothing is in the way of the vents so probably need to raise if with sky themselves. Thanks anyway

This exact problem is the same for me.  I reported it last year with Sky technical team,  They de-installed my App and re-installed it.  It lasted for about a week and then the buffering and the continuous Fan kicked in again.  Like you it only happens with the Paramount + App.  

I reported it again and they arranged an Engineer visit.  He tried the app himself and it began buffering straight away and as always the fan kicked in and the only way to stop the fan is to disconnect at the mains.  The Q box didn't  get hot but I was always reluctant to go to bed with the fan churning away.  It's a real pain if you're recording anything as it interrupts that of course.  The Engineer replaced the hard drive which then meant I had to re-initiate all my Apps.  Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem long term.   I just avoid Paramount + where possible but I've just been watching a series that was a sky original and only aired from Paramount + after episode 1.  It is still a problem and the buffering keeps happening and last night after watching just 2 episodes the fan kicked in and I had to turn off at the mains.  Nightmare and time a fix wad sorted.  @Clark1978 @targetlk @oxobox

It's not a hardware issue as I had a box replaced 

 

it's a software issue 

 

next step has to be trying to remove soo and update software etc

 

I also think it's a rushed not well designed app 

 

tried soo hard to copy Netflix etc

 

Coding etc isn't up to to scratch

 

 

 

 

the headache though is for some people it works fine 

 

wonder also if it's designed to be more compatible with sky glass and they designed it with that in mind and so sky Q will always have issues which will get worse and worse as they focus more and more on the  gimmick that is sky glass

Exact same problem here. Fan goes on full after using Paremount+.

is there any way to remove ONLY the Paramount+ app without a complete settings reset?

I'd happy do without Paramount + to avoid this problem with the fan coming on permanently.

Just don't use it?

 

A "Refresh Apps" will reinstall all the apps without touching anything else.

 

Not noticed this problem but I can't remember the last time I used P+ I'll have to give it a try. Does sound like bad software.

Thanks for that. Refreshing the apps is not a bad idea. But it will only help if Paramount + have fixed their app recently. I'd prefer to simply remove it. 
This problem definitely seems more prevalent on Sky Q boxes and not other Sky devices.
