A few days back I nodded off and on awakening, the sky q remote took its final trip to the floor,
Embaressing and terminal.
I read about doing the disconnectioning of the remote, prior to setting up a replacement but unable to do as the damage was complete.
I seemed to be unique in the help pages.
I ordered a replacement remote, but each passing day confirmed the need to unpair the original prior to setting up the new remote.
On arrival, i decided to "Go for it" and attached the new remote straight from the box!
"Bingo!" my TV (ancient) sprang to life and my program file appeared as before.
Is this too good to be true? So far so good. Or will some clever chappie find I'm not singing from the correct hymn-sheet?

That's correct - you do not need to unpair the old remote.

Hi @Ainniseoir Where did you read that piece of misinformation? If you think about it, that would be silly, as a replacement is normally only required after the previous remote has failed.

Re: Pairing for SKY Q
Thank you all for your input, very reassuring.
Anything I found on the topic was from sky.com information pages.
Such a relief knowing that what I did was kosher.
Maybe looking in the wrong places, but the information seemed like gospel.
