On my sky q box I have it in an appropriate wall Mount behind my Samsung tv in a recess - the Mount

I have a wall mounted sky Q box behind my Samsung tv in a recess. The walls were recently painted a darker colour (bare with me I know this sounds odd) but before they were white. Now grey.

the sky q remote has been working perfectly until decorating and the tv or box weren't removed and were painted around to avoid sky disruption. 
the sky q remote now only allows the volume to be used via Bluetooth from anywhere in the room. But to change channel etc you need to point the tv directly at the sky q box down the gap at the side of the tv. Or pull the tv out of the recess. I e tried 7 and 9 and then it flashes 4 times. I then press 1 and 3 and it flashes twice red on the remote but nothing appears on my tv. I have gone through my tv sky set up advice and tried to repair by pressing 1 and 3 and then selecting Samsung and pressing 0088 which then allows the volunteers to be altered from anywhere not even pointing at the sky box. But can only still change channel by pointing at the sky q box infrared sensor directly.   Any advice please how to ensure the whole remote is working Bluetooth and not just the volume

Volume is done via IR to the TV or amp. That's why it doesn't matter that the Q is shadowed.

 

Have you tried re-pairing the remote to get the bluetooth stuff working again? Edit: while pointing the renote through the gap.

Hi, thanks and yes I've tried to re-pair . I've pulled the tv out of the recess in the bracket and even pointed the sky q remote and pressed 1 and 3 together, and volume works from anywhere but the tv channels, home button etc only work with direct sight of the sky q box. So I'm thinking it's working infrared but is volume Bluetooth as that can work even pointing that at the floor ?

Were you pointing it at the box when you held 7&9 too?

 

Volume doesn't go to the sky box. IR to the TV. Do it under a blanket and it shouldn't work.

As @Chodley indicates, Sky boxes output a fixed volume level for any particular audio type: any control over that is from the handset to the television using infrared, because it's the television which contains amplifier and speakers.

Hi,

im not very techy. But yes I held 7&9 and pointed at the sky box. And also pointed the remote at the sky w box when I held 1&3. 
any other ideas what to try?
