On Sky Signature with Netflix. Now being increased by 10% and we can't afford it anymore.

I can't get any sense out of Sky - they've been most unhelpful.  We currently have Sky Signature and pay a bit extra for Netflix with ads. They are increasing the rate by 10%, more than 3 times the rate of inflation and we can't waste money like that. We don't want to switch to streaming only, as broadband can be dodgy sometimes. What are our options, please? We have a satellite dish.

Sky said we could switch to TV Essentials, and contact Netflix directly to add that on, but I've read that this is streaming only, and includes Netflix, whereas Sky said the opposite.. Very confused!

hi @Ali555

There is now quite a bit of confusion over SKY packages with Essential in the name due to them using it differently on different platforms

TV Essentials they have suggested is using the SKY Q box to be able to watch & record from the Free To Air (FTA) channels  via Satellite

As mentioned with this option you would need to subscribe separately to Netflix

(Note it doesn't include the subscription channels )

Essntial TV that you may have read about is available on SKY Glass & SKY Stream and is streaming and includes SKY Atlantic  (& possibly a couple others - I haven't double checked) as well as Netflix - but this is not available on SKY Q

TV essentials allows you to keep the Q box.  If you cancel your subscription then you have to return the box.

You don't have to subscribe via Sky to NetFlix - you can do it directly as noted.  (Actually you may have to if they don't provide a Netflix option with essentials - AIUI you need signature as a minimum)

Netflix is streaming only regardless of who you pay for it.

Is the Essentials package via satellite as well as streaming, please?

You may have cross-posted with @nigea99

Essentials on Q only is 'free' channels an allows you to keep the Q box.  (You'd have to subscribe to NetFlix directly)

The streaming Essentials is a different product entirely - https://www.skygroup.sky/article/sky-launches-essential-tv-bringing-together-sky-netflix-and-discove...but not available for Q
