No satellite signal but recordings or apps not working either

I have no satellite signal and the message on screen says I can still view recordings, on demand and apps, but recordings or none of the apps seem to be working

A satellite signal is required for a 'keep alive'.  Functionality can cease but usually takes many days (or weeks).

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Nope - it's a security measure so boxes do not operate if disconnected.

If you’re still seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment or possibly a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish) so check the troubleshooting on this link

It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth noting that:

▪️ a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels

Thank you. All the cables were actually fine.  It was either the dish (communal one) or a problem with the Q box, as it was also having issues connecting to my router when all other devices were connected fine. 

Anyway, it all seems to be working fine again so happy days! 😀

Good to hear @Rv11 

 

Just remember that as you have a communal dish if it reoccurs your first port of call is your building management company or landlord (after perhaps checking if neighbours are also experiencing the same problem).
