No UHD option when watching Sky Sports Cricket HD

I'm signed up for just the Cricket channel on Sky Sports.  I also have the UHD upgrade, and up until the second test against Sri Lanka I have always been able to watch in UHD as a prompt used to appear a few seconds after selecting channel 404.  However, on Thursday when I went to watch the second test no prompt appeared, and nothing on the red button.  I contacted Sky but all I got was the technical team and they could not help me, apart from confirming that everything on my Sky Q box was set up correctly.  Has anyone had a similar experience?

hi @Jonhb64

I don't watch  cricket but just looked at today's test

Similarly I don't get a prompt to watch in UHD or a red button option but note it is showing on 401 - Main event UHD

It is possible that the whole test won;t be shown in UHD as ME switches to Football later

@nigea99 thanks, at least it's not just me. I had wondered what might happen if the cricket is not on ME, only half an hour to wait 🙂

Hi @Jonhb64

As far as I am aware there are only two UHD transponders on Sky Q for live transmissions.

It looks like F1 and Premier league has priority over Cricket

Disappointing that the Test Match coverage gets bumped from 401 (UHD) to 404 (only HD) when the football started at 12.30pm. Why am I paying for UHD when Sky are not broadcasting the live cricket in UHD?....

Then cancel it?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

My thoughts exactly

That's an option but not what I'm looking to do - I like watching in UHD so cancelling that part of my subscription would make the issue worse, not better. I'm just disappointed that Sky can't (or won't ) broadcast more sports simultaneously in UHD.

Re: No UHD option when watching Sky Sports Cricket HD

So I get the point that there may be limited UHD channels but there wasn't any problem last week watching cricket in UHD.  The football season was underway then, has the F1 season just started?  It also strikes me that cricket benefits far more from UHD than F1...

It's missing again today, despite being UHD on the first 2 days of the test match. Come on Sky, sort it out 😡

hi @Jonhb64 , @K+Robson    & @DirtyNorris

The cricket test match is available in UHD although not via a red button

If you navigate to

Home - Sports - Cricket - & select the Live 5th Test Day3... - even though the thumbnail says HD  if you are set up for UHD then it should take you to the UHD feed

Thanking you, that works.... No idea why they would hide it away like that though!

I am not sure if the changes they made to red button functionality to take customers to the SKY Sport app for most sports  means they can't easily use it for switching to the UHD temporary feeds  although it might just be they haven't set up it for other reasons

Like previous years it is best to check the dedicated Sports  menus from the home page   - so I am glad it works for you.
