Hey Guys. It's been about 2-3 weeks now and no issues. Turn the HDMI control off on sky and the actual TV. Some TV's it's called different things. The other thing that was potentially messing it up was having a FIRETV plugged in. I've unplugged it for now and no issues. Might be worth a try.

What are you working on to fix or create new features would be interesting to see. Most software developers do this and I'm sure it will be somewhere internally. So were no sat here paying £100 plus per month for a service we have no idea on the road map.
Most prominent on the 'Q roadmap' would be the likely end of satellite television broadcasting to the UK, perhaps before the close of this decade...

Have you disabled hdmi control on the tv and on the sky box? Since I turned that setting off on my samsung TV I haven't had an issue.

Aye,
I have done now,
Only time will tell if it's sorted, as it seems to occur randomly.
I guess a firmware update hasn't be able to fix the issue.

Hey @dom3663. Hopefully it has worked. Mine turns on and off a lot quicker. I've turned the sky eco mode off too. Good luck. Be good to see if it works.

I'll get hold of sky

Don't know if it was an update a few weeks ago, but noticed when I switch off the TV holding the remote power button, the sky box goes off as well.
I just make sure that the eco setting on the skyq is off so it doesn't go off on its own.
The eco mode on sky box is something like 2/3min while the Samsung TV 'no signal off ' setting is 15 minutes.
That seems to reset/disable the hdmi card on the TV.
I've not had any events (fingers crossed) since then 🤞

Same problem here since getting a new Sky Q box last year. Had a 2016 LG Oled and it would happen every now and then. Now we have a 2024 LG and it happens everytime the TV and Sky are turned on. Unplug the lead and back in and fine. I have turned off the HDMI as mentioned on the Sky box. We shall see.

Hey @Simonb73. You need to make sure you turn it off the TV (on the LG menu) as well as the Sky box for it to work. You might have meant that so apologies in advance 🙂

Things are better today.
Seems the box and tv needed a few resets to sort the updated setting out.
Although it 'works' it's removed the functionality of 1 remote for all.

So we stopped the HDMI unplug thing by turning off the HDMI control. Unfortunately we still had sound and picture drop outs. New Sky Q box arrived today and has fixed those. Will see what happens tomorrow when I switch it on. Looks like we had a faulty HDMI socket. Will report back.

Update.
new box arrived and would only use 8bit 4K so used that. All seemed ok and turned the hdmi control back on and the tv and sky Q have been fine. I noticed last night we weren't getting the box at the top of the screen displaying what 4K you were watching (HLGHDR). Went back to 10bit this morning as the Sky box found it and all working.
switched the tv and sky on just now and guess what. No bloody HDMI signal and I had to unplug it and plug back in. HDMI control will be off again but not ideal.

Turning HDMI control off didn't fix the issue for me long term.
My solution was to attach a Smart plug to the box, which I just reset on the occasions when it doesn't work.
