Newbie Sky Q user, what mistakes am I making?

So I have a new Sky Q box, moved from Sky plus. Mostly I like it, but there seem to be things missing compared to  Sky Plus. Which of these are actually problems and which are just user error?

On recordings, I can't tell which recordings I've watched. How do I show just new stuff? Or just watched recordings so that I can delete them?

On the schedule page, series linked to record don't seem to show. For example, I record the news with a series link. On that day, I see a red R indicating it will be recorded. Great, but next days news doesn't get a red R. Although it does get recorded. This makes it hard to know what I've linked.

Then there is the Sky Go app. I used to manage my recordings with the Sky Plus app. I could see my recordings and delete them from there. But Sky Go seems to lack that function. Or is it there and I'm not seeing it?

Any help welcome

Sue

Not very easily - each episode unwatched used to have a small dot next to it but they removed this (I am guessing because it was slghtly unreliable)  Now you have to scan the bottom of the thumbnail to look for the 'progress bar' which gives an indicator as to how through the recording you are.

A word of warning - be careful with the buttons above episodes as they may not point to the episode you think (I find they often point to the next episode even when I have at least 5 minutes to watch)

(Also the 'Continue' section of recordings is known to be quite unreliable so our advice is to only use it with extreme caution)

That said the Sort By : A-Z listing in the recordings scetions does still give an indication that there is at least one episode unwatched with the white spot

Series Link is rather annoying IMO on SKY Q - it only schedules & shows the next episode in the series and triggers the next one when one starts recording (i.e. tomorrows episode only shows the link when today's starts recording)  - I wish it would show all linked recordings in the planner 'time window' but it doesn't unfortunately

Then there is the Sky Go app. I used to manage my recordings with the Sky Plus app. I could see my recordings and delete them from there. But Sky Go seems to lack that function. Or is it there and I'm not seeing it?

I don't find it obvious & I am not a SKY Go expert but when you select an episode to show the info rather than play it should show a delete option at the bottom of the info for the episode

Any help welcome

Sue

P.S. Welcome to SKY Q - it can take a bit of getting used to. As you have done don't be afraid to ask anything you are unsure of & we will try to help

(A word of warning though - just don't try to compare too much with SKY +/ HD as that can lead to frustration for some)

If you to  the Recordings page (press the Sky logo at the top of the remote - it's a shortcut button to your recordings,, in case you weren't aware). If you select any recording, or stack of recordings, any programmes you've watched (or partially watched), will have a thin blue line underneath, the longer the line the more of the recording has been watched. I hope that is useful.

hi @SueI22

Further to my earlier note regading SKY Go & delete a recording option .

I have noticed I get a delete option on my Andorid tablet but on my PC there is no such option (that I can find) so ot seems it depends on which platform you use SKY Go on

Re: Newbie Sky Q user, what mistakes am I making?

Thanks very  much for all the answers. The blue progress line sounds like it will solve my problem of not distinguishing programs I've already watched. I will.l loo, out for that.

I looked for the delete option on Sky Go (I am using Android) but I can't see it.

Maybe it's different on phone vs tablet

@SueI22  There's definitely a delete option in the app on my Galaxy Tab 5e.

Oh is this a "it thinks someone is still watching it" situation?

@simon194 that's very interesting. If not the tablet  maybe the app? Mine is version 23.7.0.

@Chodley I don't think so. I have tried a variety of programs.
