Engineer came out yesterday to bring a new box as hard drive had gone on the old one.
All working when he left .
TV switched off when he left as i dont watch TV until the evening.
Box and tv are both on standby and come on with the sky remote control.
Switched on last night ...no picture , no nothing .
Unplugged box , waited , plugged in and all came back on .
Same thing again tonight .
Nothing works unless the box is unplugged .
Nightmare getting down to do this with arthritis in my hands and not exactly young either.
Stressing me out now.
Shouldnt have to do this every time i want to watch TV .

Its connected to an av receiver and on the correct HDMI .
No cables were removed from the AV receiver when engineer came out, he unplugged from old box and put straight into new box .

Do you happen to know if the AVR is capable of UHD signal passthrough?
If it isn't and the new box is outputting UHD be default then that could be the issue.
In theory the Q box can be set to HD without a screen display by pressing
Home
1080
Home
on the remote control handset.

Its a 4k av receiver so i would think so. Never had any issues like this with the older Q box until the hard drive failed ... 9 years later

No nothing. All i get is the tv screensaver .
There must be something conflicting .
Yet the engineer never touched the receiver.
All he did was unplug the wires from the old sky q box and put into new q box .
No wires were touched on the AV receiver

Hi @Qwerty1957
If you are getting a Screen saver on your television then it is not switched to the Q box HDMI.

The engineer set it all up .
The sky q is commected to the teceiver with HDMI .
The remote switches everything on .
No wirse in the receiver were touched

This is a common problem on the Sky Q boxes and has been for a few years. Mine has been doing it for ages. Does it connected directly to the TV or through my AV amp and it's done the same on two separate TVs. Sometimes it'll work fine for a couple of weeks or more then as it is now it seems to be every day. If you set the colour depth to 8 bit instead of 10 bit it appears to do it much less but then you don't get the full Ultra HDR picture you're paying a subscription for and if you try to play UHD content it'll tell you you've not got a compatible TV.
Absolutely dire and should have been sorted ages ago but Sky don't care.

And is the TV definitely switched to the AV receiver HDMI input?

Never happens to me via my Yamaha AV receiver.
Bonus pedantry: It's not "Ultra HDR" by the way, it's Ultra HD (=UHD) and High Dynamic Range (=HDR)
