New TV contract signed, but no Sky channels???

Long-time Sky customer, just signed new Broadband, Talk, TV and Sky Mobile contracts.

Now, I can't access any Sky channels at all! I know some Sky channels are available only on some contracts or as upgrades, but I should have some, right? I was also told I would still have my recordings, as well as access to boxsets and catch-ups, but no.

I've gone through a software update, switched to SD downloads, hub and router restart, which restore some of my non-Sky channels that were also missing, but still, when I try to go to, say, Sky Atlantic, it says I need to upgrade.

Any ideas?

TIA

Tomy

hi @tomyris

What TV base package di dyou agree to ?

If it is TV Essentials then that is the Free To Air channels only (BBC, ITV etc)

You need SKY Signature to access the bulk of the channels

And also to play back previous Recordings made from Signature (non-free-to-air) channels.

I thought it was supposed to include Sky Atlantic? Not that I'm fussed, I watch tv very infrequently.

I was very clear with the agent that I wanted boxsets and catchup. Without them I might as well cancel Sky TV and go back to Netflix.

Thanks anyway!

hi @tomyris

on SKY Q (& SKY HD) SKY Atalantic is only available with SKY Signature (or much older Base pacakages - SKY Entertainment and Variety I think)

Is it possible that you have seen the recent advertising for Essential TV which includes SKY Atalantic - this is for SKY Stream which  should not be confused with SKY TV Essentials on SKY Q that only contains the Free To Air channels

SKY have rather confusing & IMO very stupidly re-used Essential gor a different package on a different platform

BTW Boxsets is not an add on since Signature includes then (in SD as standard)

As @nigea99 indicates, Essential TV on Stream and Glass is a subset of subscription channels, including Atlantic, plus Netflix Standard with Adverts and Discovery+ Basic, and the free-to-air channels.  This would include the Box Sets for that subset of channels, so all the HBO stuff from Atlantic, for example.

TV Essentials on the satellite platforms is reception of free-to-air channels only plus the ability to record and play back and access the catch-up services of those channels.  Apps such as Netflix can be used but only with a separate subscription directly with the app provider: they aren't bundled.
