Following on from a previous question, I thought it best to start a new one.
New Sky Q box installed today by Sky Engineer.
He set the Standby Mode to 'Eco'
Having had a bit of a mess around with the settings, for standby, what has everyone got there's set to?
"Standby Mode". None, Active, Eco.
'Smart Standby Mode' On/Off ?
The engineer set 'standby mode to Eco.
To be honest, I can't remember what the option was set to on 'Smart Standby' though.
Does one clash with the other?
I was trying different options as my tv would come on along with my sound bar when the power button was pressed, but the box stayed in standby, unless I did it this way......press the power button, ( tv and soundbar come on) but I then have to press the SKY button on the remote for the box to come on
It *all turns off at the press of the power button alone though, which is the
reason for me asking what standby options everyone has.
Hope you follow that.

The standby options do not really have any bearing on the control of your TV and vice-versa
As an aside - My SKY Q box is set to ECO although I know many switch it off (i.e. none)
Switching on the TV will not switch on the SKY Q box but providing HDMI Contol is on
Home - Settings - Setup -Audio Visual & on your TV (and Sound bar if routed through it)
then switching on your SKY Q box (with a brief press of your remote) should also power on your TV

Yes the HDMI is on, I do run my sound bar via arc.
So putting that one aside for a moment, if you have your Standby set to Active (which would be my choice), What have you got the Smart Standby set to, On or Off?
I can't work out if one would override the other, will they clash, or are two different options all together.
So for example, 'Standby' set to 'Active', and the 'Smart Standby' set On, should be set to off.

I can't find an edit button.
The soundbar is set to arc just to the tv, but they work fine with each other, but as I say, I only need to know about the standby choices now.

Ahh the Smart Standby option - this may be confusing you.
As far as I am aware it is not linked to the main Standby mode
It is a new feature that when 'on' allows the TV (either via a long press on the remote or the TV's own remote) to put your SKY Q box instandby

Just to let you know, you can only edit posts when you reach a certain 'Level' on the forums, as a result new members find they can't edit posts I am afraid
As you say a Soundbar just via ARC should work with the TV and not part of your query here

Thanks both,
Got it sorted.
Last time, I have one more question regarding Recordings, but again I'll start another thread, unless Mods want to put it in with these.

Personally I prefer to see separate discussions for each query - although I know others may disagree
When the questions are separate a marked answer applies to the question posed - if there are multiple questions there can only be one answer marked, making it more diificult for anyone else reading to find the answer to the other questons
