Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
Surely this makes it difficult to turn on sky and tv each day?

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
I've had fibre for years without any sky/Netflix issues. Thinking about it, my issues have only been since upgrading to FTTP a couple of months ago.
I just tried the HDMI control suggestion. Didn't work for me.
In the morning, I'm going to shut down my network including sky box and switch on starting with the BT hub and work
my way out from there and see if that makes any difference.

It's nothing to do with fttp per se. I use it fine.

What, pressing the power button on one more remote?
Suspect it's coincidence anyway, be very surprised if that's the issue.
I'd think it more likely a change of DNS to 1.1.1.1 would help if a change of internet connection seems to have caused it for some people.

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
I don't understand what you're doing differently as surely you do this anyway? Whenever I use my TV I use the power button of the actual TV to turn it on from standby, then use the power button of the Sky remote to turn the box on?

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
I'm sure many others, like myself, just press sky or home on the sky remote and the tv switches on to the hdmi that the sky box is connected too.
I tried switching this off and it made no difference.
I have this morning, just powered down my network, from Hub to switches and Sky boxes.
I've restarted the system starting with the hub, waited for that to turn blue, then switches, waited for them to settle, and finally the sky boxes.
Once the main box was ready, I got Netflix up and running in just a few seconds. Main box took 5 seconds to get to log in screen, mini boxes took around 12 seconds. All working ok at the moment. Will see how long this lasts.

I had FTTC from NowTV up until I switched to Sky FTTP when it was installed in our area back in May. I had the Netflix issue way before I switched. It was only resolved by whatever means after this point so I don't think it's related.

I use the Sky remote only, one short press to turn on the Sky box and one long press turns on the Sony TV and Yamaha soundbar. The TV is always on the HDMI input for the Sky box.

well, no, HDMI control lets the sky box talk to the TV and control it, with signals sent via the HDMI cable.
if you were to turn on the sky box first then it would turn the TV on and select the right HDMI input (if it wasn't already on it)
I use the long press that Colin described to turn the TV off because the sky box doesn't do the reverse.
why else did you think disabling hdmi control would make it more difficult then? Did you think it was related to being able to control which hdmi input you're watching?

Well it's 5 1/2 hours later, I've just popped home for lunch and...... Netflix still working perfectly. Will test again this evening

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
I don't have the setting turned on where HDMI is connected to enable the sky box to turn the TV on. I wasn't even aware that could be enabled hence why I didn't understand what was being suggested.

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
Changing the rest participation settings hasn't worked for me. Oddly, I've only recently just started getting this issue and mainly in my 2nd q box, not the main one.

Re: Netflix app crashing/won't load
I have somehow managed to get it back by sequentially turning off the TV, then Skybox then broadband router, and turning each back on in reverse order.
Had to do this twice. But has been working fine since then, I didn't need to do your hack, (so witholding payment 😜).t
I don't think it's the fibre per say, something to do with one piece of software not talking to the other. So a reset seems to have solved that somehow 🤷
