Need to close Sky account to unlink a channel?

Hello,

Have been a Sky subscriber for 25yrs+.  Have most packages Sports, Cinema, Netflix as well as Signature.

However BT Sport, now TNT has always been via my BT account. Not a problem until today....

Account on Discovery+ site states:

Current Pass : Discovery+ Via Sky. Your Sky promoion has been applied to your subscription.

Changes to your subscription must be managed through the Partner.

From today, we cannot watch the Sport on the Discovery+ app on the TV (because Sky's Discovery+ package is now basic?)

But I have Discovery+ Premium via BT (TNT package) so I should be able to have access to it.

After 3 hours on the phone (to BT, Sky & Discovery+) ....I've established....

c/o BT: Sky needs to unlink Discovery+ from them, and then I can activate the TNT Discovery Premium package.

c/o Sky: Cannot unlink me from Sky Discovery - I either cancel all Sky services and start again...or contact Discovery+ to remove my account from Sky

c/o Discovery+: They cannot remove my account from Sky. Sky have to manage this.

Anyone else facing this issue? Do I seriously have to cancel all Sky packages to remove an add-on account?

Thank you

Re: Need to close Sky account to unlink a channel?

My issue isn't resolved. The next day Sky contacted me via this thread. Was told it could be resolved. At the same time I was on the phone to Sky, passed from

pillar to post. Their conclusion was: cancellation dept can't unlink it, as it's not a paid add on; technical dept can't unlink it as they don't have the authority- was told to speak to Discovery again. Discovery said they can unlink it because it was set up by Sky, so Sky need to manage it.

Looks like my only solution is to cancel Sky, so looking at alternatives at the moment.

Can you not install the app on your tv and login using the BT credentials?

Re: Need to close Sky account to unlink a channel?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

It simply sounds as if you pay BT for TNT Sports and not Sky - but watch Discovery+ on your SkyQ box and haver signed in using Sky account?

If so to unlink Discovery+ on the SkyQ box you have to:
go into the app as usual

Move to the far left menu and then select 'Account'

Select 'Sign Off' and Sign Off - this disconnects your app from the Sky account

Now re-sign into the app - but you sign in with your BT creditials (as said above) and NOT your Sky account credentials

When you get the activation code on the SkyQ box - you must be logged into to your BT Account online in Discovery+.

So it is worth signing out online - and resign in using BT account details.

I used the manual sign in option - I can't get the QR code to load a valid page
